This traditional folk song ( Tiritera means phrases repeated in sing-song or a nursery rhyme) was documented by Sicilian folk singer, Muzzi Loffredo, who learned it from an elderly woman from Bagheria. Muzzy adapted the both the text and music and recorded this song in 1976 on her album, Tu Ti Nni Futti. The only existing recording of her singing this tiritera exists thanks to Vannuccio Zannella, Antonino Destra and M P Records. Special thanks to Vincenzo Amato, who first introduced Michela to his mother’s evocative voice and recordings.
